A Young Manufacturer With a Long Bakery Tradition

We’re proud to share that Lenexa Manufacturing Company was recently featured in the California Business Journal.

The article, “A Young Manufacturer With a Long Bakery Tradition,” profiles founder Stephen Bastasch and the family story behind LMC. Stephen represents the third generation of the Bastasch family to work in and around bakeries — a legacy that traces back to 1910, when Andrew Bastasch immigrated to the United States and founded what would become Luxury Bread in Oregon. Over the decades the family shifted from baking bread to building the machinery that bakeries rely on, and in 2013 Stephen carried that expertise forward by launching Lenexa Manufacturing Company.

Today, LMC is a fast-growing original equipment manufacturer supplying custom slicers, baggers, heat sealers, and spare parts to more than 300 commercial bakeries across 45 states — including some of the country’s most recognized brands. The piece highlights LMC’s rapid parts turnaround, full-service approach from design through on-site maintenance, and standout innovations like its reusable hinge blade assembly that helps bakeries cut waste and reduce replacement costs.
