A quick history of LMC
The legacy of LMC started in the early 1900s, when Andrew Bastasch opened a bakery in Oregon. This bakery became Luxury Bread, which developed a powerful reputation for quality, passion, and customer satisfaction.
As automation became increasingly common, the Bastasch family moved from using bakery equipment to manufacturing it in 1964 under the name United Bakery Equipment (UBE). And when UBE closed its Kansas facility in 2013, Andrew’s great grandson Stephen Bastasch became an entrepreneur himself by launching the Lenexa Manufacturing Company.
As company president, Stephen leads a small team of homegrown industry professionals dedicated to providing outstanding customer service, high-quality machines, and innovative designs. Together, LMC supports mid- to large-sized bakeries across the world by designing, manufacturing, and servicing automated bakery equipment.

How we’re impacting the baking industry
LMC is moving the baking industry forward by inventing new technologies that improve production and equipment performance.
Our latest invention, a reusable hinge blade assembly, uses a lock nut to attach the slicing blade to the stem and hub, rather than joining all three parts into one component. When the blade wears out, you can simply unscrew the nut to replace the blade, rather than scrapping the entire unit. That lets you save money, reduce waste, and optimize your storage of spare parts.
(We also have a patent-pending slicing design that will vastly improve the quality of each slice. It’s not ready to unveil quite yet, but keep an eye out in the near future to upgrade your bread slicing machinery!)
